'Period Poverty' - the inability to access menstrual hygiene products (pads and tampons) affects around 20 million Americans, predominantly homeless / unhoused, at-risk and marginalized people.
Social stigma regarding menstruation means that this very real need is neglected, ensuring additional suffering for an already vulnerable population.
Valenween is an opportunity to remind people that cycles don’t stop for people in crisis, and to normalize talking about this very basic bodily function.
This year we are back as an ART COMPETITION!
Decorate a box of tampons and email photos of your art to valenween@gmail.com
The competition will be judged by Denise Carbonell, entries close midnight Feb 13. First prize is $215.
